After unzipping
651 MB on disk
Free space needed
~1 GB — the zip and the unzipped folder both exist for a moment
OS
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. There is no Mac or Linux build.
Graphics
Any DirectX 11 or 12 GPU. It runs D3D12 where it can.
Memory
8 GB is the sane floor. Honest caveat: the only machine this has ever run on has 32 GB, so below that is untested, not certified.
Install
None. Unzip anywhere and run WarTribes.exe. Nothing touches your registry.

Unzip to a short pathC:\WarTribes, not somewhere ten folders deep, and not inside a synced OneDrive folder. Windows still has a 260-character path limit and this build has deep asset folders.

Why is it this big?

Straight answer: art. Nothing here is compressed badly — the audio is already streaming Vorbis at 1.8% of the build. It is meshes, textures and animation, in that order. Last measured on the 24 Aug 2026 build: 544.7 MB of user assets inside a 651 MB install.

Meshes 227.1 MB · 41.7% Textures 150.3 MB · 27.6% Animations 129.5 MB · 23.8% Levels 18.4 MB · 3.4% Sounds 9.8 MB · 1.8% Shaders 4.8 MB · 0.9% Other 4.1 MB · 0.8%

The four fattest single files, if you want somewhere to start: wt_fire_atlas.png 48.0 MB (now crunch-compressed), SkeletalSystem100.fbx 30.5 MB and VisceralSystem100.fbx 15.1 MB (the anatomy pair — genuinely used, the Clinic's skeleton board reads them), Jesse.glb 18.3 MB.

If you know Unity and want to help cut it down, the levers are mesh compression and LODs on the Synty props, texture max-size on anything that is 4096 and does not need to be, and animation compression on the Mixamo clips. Tell Jesse what you find.
